PIT & social security rates: distributions

How each labour-taxation measure is distributed across OECD member states in a given year, by household type and earnings level.

Notes:

The curve is a Gaussian kernel density estimate (Scott bandwidth) of the measure’s values across OECD member states in the selected year, evaluated over the range from one standard deviation below the minimum to one above the maximum. It is a smoothed picture of where countries cluster — peaks mark common values, long tails mark outliers.

Green shading marks the mean ±1σ, ±2σ and ±3σ ranges (darkest to lightest); a wider band is only drawn when it captures more countries than the narrower one. The dashed green line is the mean and the dotted purple line the median; up to two countries can be highlighted with their own vertical lines, alongside their rank, percentile and deviation from the mean in the table below the chart.

The distribution covers OECD member states only: the OECD-average and EU22 aggregate series are excluded. Monetary measures are compared in US dollars converted at purchasing power parity.
